The Challenge
MHIC is a leading financier of affordable housing and community development throughout New England. They are the glue that brings together investors, developers, and government officials on big, important public works projects. Their website needed to reflect that role. It needed to speak to multiple audiences, including investors, advocacy groups, developers, and members of the community.

“Working with Charles River Web was the right decision. Their team combined deep technical expertise with a remarkable attention to detail, ensuring that every aspect of our new website functioned seamlessly. What made the experience especially valuable was the collaboration between designer and developer, who worked side by side to bring our vision to life. The result is a site that not only meets demanding technical standards but also reflects the kind of thoughtful, refined design that makes a lasting impression. We are grateful for their partnership and the care they put into every step of the process.”
We knew that we didn’t want to simply make a newer version of the previous site with flashier graphics and some modern features. We needed a new vision for MHIC’s public persona. We needed to impress. We worked with our design partner to map out MHIC’s audience, their goals, and their technical requirements.
It starts with the home page. This one needed to funnel users to the information they desired, even if they didn’t know what it was. We need to bring the investment community information about how they will be successful. Simultaneously, we needed to drive activists towards information about how their lives would be improved – a very different goal! Our home page catered to both of these audiences, bringing them the content they needed.
Beyond that, each page was meticulously designed to offer each audience beautifully presented information regardless of what device they were using. On the administrative side, staff was able to make use of the latest Drupal software for easy administration of site content.
Less than six months after they contacted us, MHIC had the site they needed!
